Thousands of incredible TTRPGs are out there, and it would be impossible for us to play them all. So, we at Dustfire Media have chosen to focus on games built on only two frameworks: Powered by the Apocalypse (PbtA) and Forged in the Dark (FitD).
By locking in on these two gaming frameworks, we have room to explore countless worlds while keeping game mechanics focused enough that our players and listeners can follow the rules without a huge learning curve. We also love that our chosen
Avatar Legends: The Roleplaying Game is a fantasy tabletop role-playing game produced by Magpie Games. It is set in the world of the animated television series Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra, and takes place in five different time periods. It sees players take the roles of martial artists, technological experts, or benders – people who can manipulate one of the four classical elements – who fight for balance in the world while also working towards their own goals and struggling with inner balance, represented by opposing ideals held by a character. Powered by the Apocalypse (PbtA) is a tabletop role-playing game design framework developed by Meguey Baker and Vincent Baker for the 2010 game Apocalypse World and later adapted for hundreds of other RPGs.[3]
Forged in the Dark (FitD) is a Creative Commons licensed System Reference Document based on the game Blades in the Dark, and was released in December of 2017 and allows people to use the "Forged in the Dark" game system for other games.[4]
